TitleArrival of Santa Claus at the Christmas party, 1967DescriptionEach year the Mill Club, supported by APM, would stage an employee Christmas Party. This was usually held on Christmas eve and open to Mill Club Members and their family. Initially the Lawnton Showgrounds was the venue and later this was moved to the area near the current APM tennis courts. The party was an all day affair with sporting events and entertainment for the children and adults. Flat races were run in age groups and novelty races such as egg and spoon and three legged were combined ages. Cash prizes were awarded to the winners. Perpetual trophies were awarded for wood chop and the inter-shift tug-of-war competitions. Children received coupons that were exchanged for ice creams, drinks, lollies and fairy floss. A merry-go-round, puppet show and jumping castle were in constant use. The culmination of the day was the arrival of Santa. Over the years he has arrived on the top of a Fire Truck, by helicopter, in the back of a ute and even in a sleigh drawn by horses. All children of Mill Club members were supplied with a gift. Single members were able to nominate one child to receive a gift.Date1967PhotographerAustralian Paper ManufacturersCollectorAustralian Paper ManufacturersRecord typePhotographFormat typeDigitalOriginal format colourBlack and white
