He married Margaretha Christine Wegener prior to coming to Queensland. Their twelve children were all born in Queensland. On 27 May 1881 August Rahe selected property at Mt Pleasant, being Portion 23 Parish of Pine, containing an area of 160 acres. Their children went to Upper North Pine School. August Adolph Daniel Rahe died on 22 December 1920. His wife Margaretha predeceased him on 12 October 1917.
