TitleJanuary 2011 Flood Event - Floodwaters in the North Pine River have receded substantiallyDescriptionOn 11 January 2011 a major flood event occurred in the North Pine River. This flood event was the combination of above-average levels of rainfall over an extended period prior to 6 January 2011 and peaked on 11 January 2011, thus impacting on the North Pine Dam and the surrounding catchment areas. The North Pine Dam operators had to open five floodgates on 11 January 2011. This photograph was taken just after 11 January 2011 looking southeast from Wyllie Park towards the AJ Wyllie Bridges over the North Pine River. The AJ Wyllie Bridge (northbound) was substantially damaged during the flood. The reconstruction of the AJ Wyllie Bridge (northbound) involved the demolition of the existing northbound bridge structure and the reconstruction of a new two lane bridge on the same alignment as the AJ Wyllie Bridge (southbound). The photograph also shows the North Pine River has substantially receded to be back within its tree lined river banks.
