Bunya (Qld.)
DETAILS
NameBunya (Qld.)DescriptionIt should be noted that, after the Parish of Bunya was first named as such by the surveyors active in the region south of the South Pine River, the district became known as Bunya. The Bunya Cemetery was gazetted in 1873 and the Bunya School opened in 1875. The fertile farming area that extended from Strathpine through Brendale to Albany Creek was originally referred to simply as the South Pine district. As the road which skirts the western boundary of the subject land forded the South Pine River at Bunya Crossing to connect part of the South Pine district with the Bunya area, from the earliest times, the road became known as Bunya Crossing Road. When planning for subdivision of the area immediately south of Bunya Crossing commenced in 1989, a decision was made not to install a connecting bridge. At this time, the section of Bunya Crossing Road south of the South Pine River was renamed Dugandan Road.
