The man with them is Bert Blake. Bert and his brother Harold conducted the first patrols on Ocean Beach Bribie Island over the Christmas holidays of 1923. Both held Royal Lifesaving awards and were paid ten pounds by the Royal Lifesaving Society to do the patrols. Refer also to page 298 of the publication From Spear & Musket.
