NameDakabin (Qld.)DescriptionThe name of Dakabin has been used by locals since the running of the North Coast Railway line in 1888. The name is Aboriginal in origin and means ‘grass trees’. This name was selected by the Department of Railways for the siding at Dakabin. The locality name was officially gazetted by the Pine Rivers Shire Council on the 17th of November 1979.
