TitleA residence on the corner of Samsonvale Road and Jarvis Court Joyner, 1987DescriptionA residence on the corner of Samsonvale Road and Jarvis Court Joyner, which was formerly one of the huts built for the United States 1st Cavalry Division in 1943. It was originally the butcher shop which was part of the stores group. The concrete retaining wall around the hut is from the original construction. By 1987, when this photograph was taken, the roof had been replaced with corrugated galvanised iron. Weatherboards had been fitted over the walls and the windows had also been changed. It was purchased at auction by the owner, Oliver Dale, who carried out the improvements to the structure. It is the only known building erected for the American 1st Cavalry Division which is still standing on its original site. The building's appearance has since undergone further changes and bricks have been added to the structure.Date1987Record typePhotographFormat typePhysicalOriginal format colourBlack and white
