TitleFerny Grove Tile FactoryDescriptionFrom 1917 there was a thriving tile factory at Ferny Grove. The photograph was taken when the landmark of 4 kilns were in production by 1937. Many local men found work at the factory and the tiles themselves are to be seen on early buildings in the district. The last kiln was set in October 1962 and all activity ceased at these works in February 1963. The building was then used by the Brisbane Tramway Museum Society as their first home. In 1972 the Ferny Grove Tavern was built on the site.Dateca. 1937CollectorWelch, MelvaRecord typePhotographFormat typePhysicalOriginal format colourBlack and white
