The business was opened in 1929 by Gordon Jackson (1908-1988). Prior to 1937, the garage was located in River Street opposite the site of the present Petrie Hotel. The year after the opening of the new road bridge over the North Pine River in 1936, Gordon Jackson moved the business to its present location on Gympie Road southeast of the roundabout.
