Les Hughes Sporting Complex, Lawnton (Qld.)

Councillor Leslie Edgar Hughes, JP, Bray Road Lawnton was successful in a four way contest for the office of Chairman of Pine Rivers Shire Council in 1973. Mr Hughes, 60 had retired the year previously as Assistant Commissioner of Police. He nominated as an independent. He was successful in the 1967 and 1979 election. However he was unsuccessful in the 1982 election. Leslie Edgar Hughes, QPM, Qm died 1 December 2004, aged 91.
