Here he marries his beautiful and hightly capable 'first mate' Eliza and together they found a Queensland shipping company whilst raising nine children to adulthood. At the beginning of the 20th century the business is known as Wm Colin & Sons. Its interests apart from wharves and coastal shipping include coal mines and a palm plantation in the Solomon Islands. After World War II a grandson transforms the business to a public compay on its way to become part of a successful Australian international corporation.
