DETAILS
TitleThe elusive Archibald Young : tracing his footprints in the Moreton Bay District 1844-1875 / Brian Hansford.DescriptionThe idea behind this book was to relate an aspect of the history of the Samford Valley. As one of the only two qualified voters on the South Pine river in 1854, Archibald Young was chosen as a subject for study, particularly because in the 1850s his homestead was situated in Samford, but his subsequent disappearance from Samford was an enigma which required investigating. Research shows that Young spent 15 years in the Moreton Bay district at various locations as far apart as Ipswich and South Pine. He lived and survived variously as an innkeeper, farmer, certified juror, illegal squatter, horse breeder and lessee of a cattle run, becoming a wealthy and respected man in a raw and at times dangerous environment.Personal authorHansford, Brian (Brian Clark), authorImprintMoorooka, Queensland : Boolarong Press, 2016.LanguageEnglishDate2016Collationxiii, 186 pages : illustrations, ISBN9781925236736Bib. formatBooks
