Alexander's parents were James Doyle and Marion Fogg. Alexander's grandfather William Fogg was a well-known pioneer of the district
he was a member of the first Pine Divisional Board and also a director of the local butter factory at Samsonvale. Alexander enlisted at Brisbane on 27 August 1915. His unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board HMAT A50 Itonus on 30 December 1915. Alexander married Irene May Blair in 1928 and they were living at Hervey Bay.Birth date18 July 1894
