Allan Joseph was the fourth son of Charles Boase and Harriet Jane Hughes who lived at Medway, Caboolture, Queensland. He had three other siblings, Colin Arthur [686] was killed at Gallipoli, Francis Henry [376] and Leonard Charles [1621], served overseas. He had graduated from Royal Military College, Duntroon, ACT and was posted to the 9th Battalion on 14 August 1914 and appointed Lieutenant, eventually receiving promotion to Brigade Major of 7th Infantry Brigade by August 1917. Allan was recommended for the Officier De L'Ordre de Leopold (The Order of Leopold) on 29 April 1917
for consistent good work as Brigade Major during the operations at LAGNICOURT on 15th April '17 which resulted in the heavy defeat of the German attack, and during the operations against the HINDENBURG Line near BULLECOURT on May 3rd which finally resulted in our gaining the trenches.
Allan remained in the army until his retirement in 1951. He was made a Commander of the British Empire in 1942. He married Williamina Boyd Norman on 30 August 1922 in Perth, Western Australia.Birth date19 February 1894Death date01 January 1964
