Arthur was the son of Percy Henry Adams & Georgina Caroline Bradfield. Arthur's father Percy was the Shire Clerk at Redcliffe from 1913 to 1928. Arthur enlisted in July 1915.
Arthur was awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal in September 1917:
For conspicuous gallantry & devotion to duty. He led a fighting patrol and attempted to enter a strongly wired enemy trench, but was held up by machine-gun fire. He at once took up a position with a Lewis gun on the enemy's flank, engaged the machine gun at point-blank range and silenced it. His prompt and determined action was the means of saving many casualties.
After the war Arthur resumed his duties as Shire Clerk at Rosewood before taking up a position at Esk. He married Norah Kathleen Broadbent in 1920 and they had two children prior to Arthur's death as a result of his war injuries in 1925.
