Arthur Ronald's parents were Arthur William Parkinson and Bessie James. The family arrived in Sydney aboard the Macquarie in October 1890 and travelled to Redcliffe in Queensland. At that time Arthur William had two sisters, Emily Jane and Gertrude Amelia Parkinson, and brother, Henry Waterworth Parkinson, living in Redcliffe. Ronald, as Arthur Ronald was commonly called, attended Humpybong State School. Eventually qualifying as a surveyor, Ronald married Helen Edith Stirling in Tasmania in 1915 before enlisting in January 1916. He returned to Australia in January 1919, resuming his career as a surveyor. He and his wife were regular visitors to Redcliffe in the years following the war.Birth date07 October 1885Death date04 October 1967
