Buried: 9 November 1962, Mt Thompson Crematorium, Holland Park, Queensland Augustus Charles Peterson was the son of Charles Augustus Peterson and Elizabeth (Eliza) Turner. He married Elizabeth Taylor (nee Jarvis) in 1890 and they lived at Woodford, Queensland, with their three children. Augustus was working as a canvasser when he enlisted on 21 August 1915 declaring his age as 44 years 7 months. He later signed a Statutory Declaration declaring his real age as 48 years and one month. Augustus's son, Frederick Elred, enlisted on 30 August 1915. They both embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT Kyarra on 3 January 1916 and Augustus returned to Australia on 3 March 1919.
