Date of Death: 31 October 1951, Queensland Buried: Lutwyche Cemetery, Brisbane, Queensland Charles Newton Tilney was the third son of Robert Reuben Tilney and Elizabeth Anne Woods who lived in Woodford, Queensland. His grandparents, Ambrose Tilney and Martha Whittred, were one of the early pioneer families to settle in Woodford. Charles was single, working as a yardman and living at Nundah with his parents when he enlisted in October 1916. On 4 October 1918 Charles was buried three times in one day due to shell explosions and as a result suffered shell shock. He married Maude Pearl Warner on 5 June 1920 and they settled in Greenslopes, Queensland, then moved to Cribb Island, Queensland.Birth date03 April 1892Death date31 October 1951
