Charles Walter Thatcher was the son of Norton Thatcher and Harriet Clark. He married Mabel Isobel Peterson (sister of Frederick Eldred Peterson [3610]) in 1911 and the couple lived in South Brisbane, Queensland. Charles was 30 years old and his occupation was listed as a Tramway employee when he enlisted in September 1915. While Charles was overseas, Mabel moved back to Woodford and lived with her parents.
