Donald's parents were Hugh Hamilton and Mary Jane Hall both well-known pioneer families of the district. The Dayboro area, first referred to as Upper North Pine District, became known as Hamilton in 1875, having been named after Hugh Hamilton, Donald's grandfather. From 1892 the district adopted the name of Terrors Creek. Donald was educated at Terrors Creek. When Donald enlisted at Brisbane on 9 September 1915 he was working as a farmer and living at Terrors Creek. Donald's brother, Hugh [6514] who enlisted was killed.Birth date25 September 1891Death date26 August 1990
