Duncan was the son of Duncan Blackburn and Isabella Thompson of Corella, via Gympie, Queensland. He arrived with his family on board Otway in 1910 and the family lived at Caboonbah, Queensland before moving to Corella. He was 19 years of age and working as a farmer in Wamuran at the time of his enlistment on 1 April 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT Port Lincoln on 20 October 1918 and he returned to Australia on 20 October 1918 with a fractured right ankle. Duncan married Linda Olive Heseltine on 13 April 1921 and settled in Gympie, Queensland.Death date20 June 1949
