Edward's parents were John Long and Mary Hayes. He attended the Humpybong State School and was working as a stockman when he enlisted in the 5th Light Horse in 1915. Older brother, William [1612] also enlisted. After the war Edward married Doone Daphne Dixon in 1922 and they moved to north Queensland where they lived at Mirani and later Mackay.Birth date03 June 1891Death date29 April 1965
