Ernest came to Australia with his parents, Edmund Coomer and Eliza Emma Prior in 1883. He was 43 years, single, a labourer and living in Caboolture, Queensland, at the time of his enlistment in May 1916. He was returned and medically discharged in October 1917 suffering from leg ulcers. Ernest relocated to New South Wales where he married Charlotte Dyce in Sydney in 1920. A younger brother, Alfred [1080], was killed at Messines, Belgium.Death date07 December 1942
