Ernest William was the son of Catherine Janet Bourke and stepson of Andrew Bruce who resided at Esk, Queensland. He was single, living Bracalba, Queensland and working as a teamster when he enlisted. His unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on HMAT Kyarra on 3 January 1916 and he returned to Australia and was discharged on 10 August 1917 suffering from shell shock. After the war he lived at Bracalba and married Florence Vera Winifred Clark in 1920.Birth date03 October 1891Death date21 May 1969
