Frederick John Martin was the son of James Frederick Martin and Esther Fowler who resided at Woodford, Queensland. Two of his brothers enlisted, Thomas Andrew [880] who was killed in France and Ernest Henry [3447]. Frederick was the only family member to use the MARTINE spelling. He was single, farming and living in the Woodford area at the time of his enlistment. Frederick had previously served in the Boer War in South Africa and he also enlisted for World War II. According to Ancestry records he was engaged to Grace Cleave, however, she died of TB at the age of 19 years. After the war he farmed in Conondale, Queensland for a number of years. Frederick willed his body to science resulting in his eventual burial some years after his death.Birth date17 September 1883Death date29 April 1959
