Frederick Lindsay McAndrew was the fourth son of James McAndrew and Isabella Snowdon. The family had moved to Toorbul before the war. Frederick was single, living at Byron Bay, NSW, and working as a carpenter at the time of his enlistment in August 1915. In June 1917 during the Battle of Messines Frederick was seriously wounded. His left arm was amputated and he was discharged as permanently unfit for service in February 1918. Frederick then returned to live with his parents at Toorbul, working as a carpenter at Caboolture until his death. Two older brothers, John William [376] and Walter George [1526], had also enlisted.Birth date18 May 1890Death date09 June 1933
