George Jules Manson enlisted at age 41 in September 1915 while living at Woody Point. His father was Robert Larmer Manson of Durban South Africa and his mother, Sophie Josephine Lemoine. George had married Claudia Irene Welsby in February 1916 just prior to embarking in April 1916. On his return home in 1918 George and Irene lived in Ipswich for a few years before moving to Woody point where George served one term on the Redcliffe Town Council, occupying the vacancy left by Errol Cowen, between 1924-27.Death date14 June 1940
