Harold Ernest was the son of Samuel Thomas Denford and Maria Kenny. His mother died in 1899, his father re-married Catherine Kenny and they were living at Bellthorpe, Woodford, Queensland in 1916. He was single, working as a labourer and living in Kilcoy, Queensland, when he enlisted in October 1916 with his brother, Stanley Kenny [3350]. The two brothers embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, with the 4th Pioneer Battalion in November 1916. Harold was wounded in action in Belgium and returned to Australia for discharge in July 1918. He married Millicent Elsie Schubert in 1927 in North Sydney, New South Wales. His younger brother, Samuel Michael [767], also enlisted.Birth date05 May 1891Death date24 October 1964
