His mother died in 1903 and his father then married Bridget Hogan in 1905 and they lived in Caboolture, Queensland. William was the licensed victualler of both the Royal Hotel and the Club Hotel in Caboolture prior to the war. Henry was single, working as a butcher and living in Gympie, Queensland, with his stepmother when he enlisted in July 1916. He was killed in action and buried in the vicinity of Polygon Wood, Belgium.
