Walter was a baker. He was elected mayor of Redcliffe Town Council in 1921. Herbert enlisted the same day as Arthur McKillop. They were both 18 years of age. He was sent overseas in May 1916 and saw active service in Egypt before being sent on to France towards the end of 1916. Herbert was killed in action at the age of 19 years 8 months and just over a year after he enlisted.Birth date19 June 1897Death date14 March 1917
