James's parents were William Brown and Jane McGaw, he attended Bald Hills State School James married Esther Louise Cooper in February 1903, they had four children. James is on the electoral roles prior to the war as living at Strathpine, his occupation is listed as a store man. When he enlisted at Brisbane on 2 November 1916 he was working at Newmarket as a store man. James was killed in action.Birth date16 February 1880Death date12 October 1917
