John Charles Pearce was the son of Henry John Pearce and Ann Letitia Roberts who resided at Woodford. He was single, working as a timber contractor and living in Caboolture at the time of his enlistment in September 1916. John returned to Australia on 12 May 1918 after convalescing for some time in England from gunshot wounds to his back, chest and right leg. He married Amy Maud McNamara in November 1921 and they lived in Brunswick Street, Merthyr, Brisbane. John was a licensed victualler until the mid-1930s when the couple moved to Rosalie, Brisbane.Birth date08 October 1888Death date24 July 1940
