John's parents were James White and Angelina Elizabeth Smith (his mother died 1883) The White family was early pioneers of North Pine and ran a successful dairy farmer on Oak Farm bordered by the North Pine River. The property remained in the White family until bought by Australia Paper Manufacturers to establish the Petrie Carton Board Mill. John enlisted 10 April 1916 at Brisbane. John never entered service in a unit as he was injured during training and was discharged as being medically unfit. John's four brothers enlisted as well, Walter [647], William [6638], Frederick [4782] and half-brother Albert [4785]. Frederick and Albert were both killed.Birth date28 May 1878Death date02 May 1948
