John's parents were Hugh MisCampbell and Mary Nowak. John's father Hugh served on the Pine Divisional Board from 1894 to 1896 and was the secretary in 1903 for the building committee for the Clear Mountain School. John was employed as a fruit grower and living at Verrierdale, Eumundi when he enlisted 1st April 1917. John married Elizabeth Robertson in 1921.
