Buried: Degilbo Cemetery, Biggenden, Queensland John William Francis Tilney was the fourth son of Robert Reuben Tilney and Elizabeth Anne Woods who lived in Woodford. His grandparents, Ambrose Tilney and Martha Whittred, were one of the early pioneer families to settle in Woodford. John was single, working as a jockey and living in Murgon, Queensland when he enlisted in January 1916. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board SS Hawkes on 20 April 1916 and he returned home and was discharged for medical reasons on 30 October 1918.
