Joseph Henry was the third son of William James Turnbull and Ellen Jane Gartlan. His mother resided at Burpengary, Queensland and the father had deserted his family. He was single, working as a sugar boiler and living at Gin Gin, Queensland at the time of his enlistment in August 1915. Joseph was killed in action in France. Three other brothers, John Andrew [232], Thomas [676] and William James [5482] were also to enlist. Thomas also died whilst serving overseas. One of his sisters, Ellen Jane married Arthur Henley [5381] also from Burpengary.Death date02 July 1916
