He was previously rejected for AIF enlistment, 'on or about October, 1915". He then enlisted on 18 January 1916 his unit embarked from Sydney, NSW on board RMS Mooltan on 12 April 1916. He married Gertrude Amelia Woods in 1920 and they are listed on the 1925 electoral rolls as living at Cedar Creek. He had three brothers who enlisted as well, Albert Elihu Thistlethwaite [995] who was killed, Richard Dickson [5484] and William Arthur [1987] who returned home.Birth date23 March 1898Death date25 February 1969
