Patrick Joseph Cash was the son of Patrick Horan Cash and Annie Genevieve Bell who lived at D'Aguilar, Queensland. He married Elizabeth Potts in 1910 and they had three children. The family was living at Rosewood, Queensland, where Patrick was working as a labourer when he enlisted on 25 September 1916. Patrick was discharged as medically unfit on 9 January 1917.
