Born Reuben Bevis, Richard was the son of Alfred Bevis and Mary Jane Giddings who resided at Villeneuve, Queensland. The family had immigrated to Australia on board the Rippingham Grange arriving in Brisbane, Queensland on 14 March 1912, however, he arrived earlier on board Otway in Brisbane on 7 April 1910. He was single, working as a farmer and living in Villeneuve, Queensland when he enlisted in August, 1915. Both he and brother, William [149] left with the 31st Battalion which embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on 9 November 1915 and he returned to Australia on 23 August 1919 with a wife and child. Richard had married Barbara Joyce Seymour-Reynolds at Edmonton 18 July 1917. The 1925 Electoral Roll has them living in Beerburrum, Queensland.Birth date26 January 1892Death date16 July 1974
