Richard's parents were Richard French and Mary Jane McEwan. Richard was living at North Pine from 1891 to 1907. He enlisted November 1915 but was discharged after 84 days due to being medically unfit. He enlisted again as a cook in the details camps at Enoggera. Richard died of illness (acute peritonitis) at the Clearing Hospital on 22 February 1916.Death date01 July 1916
