He married Henrietta Maria Dyer in 1910 in England and they had two children when Robert enlisted for the second time. He first enlisted in January, 1916, when the family lived in Caboolture, Queensland but was discharged as medically unfit. When Robert re-enlisted in March 1917, he was working as a sawyer and living at Stones Corner, Brisbane, Queensland. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, in June 1917 and he was returned to Australia for discharge in September 1918 being medically unfit due to chronic articular Rheumatism.Death date20 June 1949
