Ronald Owen was the son of Richard Draney and Jessie Alexander McKay. He was 22 years, single and a clerk in the Federal Land Tax Office when he enlisted in June 1915. At that time his father was the Postmaster at Caboolture. Ronald was killed by a shell in the trenches of Lavielle, west of Albert with eight other men.
