Buried: Unknown Samuel's parents were William Laird McConnell and Marion Agnes Bowman, they lived at Strathpine. His family had come from Ireland and moved for several years to Glasgow in Scotland and finally immigrated to Australia in 1910. Samuel was the second oldest of four children and was working as a farmer when he enlisted 10 July 1916 at Brisbane. After the war he was living with his brother at Belmont, he continued farming. He married Elsie Florence Why in 1930 at Brisbane. Samuel enlisted in WWII, he was a munitions worker. Samuel's older brother Robert [638] served in the war. He died aged 75.Birth date28 November 1897
