Samuel is listed on the electoral rolls as living at Mt Pleasant and Dayboro prior to the war. He was discharged on 7 November 1918. In 1925 Samuel is living at the Railway Hotel in North Bundaberg, his occupation is a labourer. The Brisbane Courier, reported Samuel's death, Thursday 21 April 1927, and lists Samuel as being employed as a punt-man for the Gravel, Sand and Metal Supply Ltd, South Brisbane.
