Samuel Ross Roberts was the son of Samuel Roberts and Fanny Unwin. At the time of his enlistment on 6 September 1915, Samuel was single, working as a miner and living in Nebo, Queensland. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT Boonah on 22 January 1916. Samuel died of wounds received in action and was buried on the same day at Bernafay Wood aged 26 years. Samuel's mother was the eldest daughter of Charles Unwin and Hannah Symonds, who settled in Caboolture around 1865.Birth date12 June 1890Death date17 January 1917
