Stanley Kenny was the son of Samuel Thomas Denford and Maria Kenny. His mother died in 1899, his father re-married Catherine Kenny and they were living at Bellthorpe, Woodford, Queensland, in 1916. He was single, working as a joiner and living in Kilcoy, Queensland, when he enlisted in October 1916 with his brother, Harold Ernest [3354]. The two brothers embarked from Sydney with the 4th Pioneer Battalion. Stanley returned to Australia and was discharged in June 1918 as medically unfit. He married Doris Gladys Green in Sydney, New South Wales, in 1923. His younger brother, Samuel Michael [767], had enlisted earlier.
