Born Thomas Burton, Burton was single, working as a timber cutter and living at Narangba, Queensland when he enlisted in 1915. Nothing is known of his parents, however, he nominated a younger brother, William, as next of kin. Burton had emigrated from England arriving on board Orvieto on 13 November 1911. He married Agnes Hilda Torrens in February 1921 and they resided in Morayfield, Queensland until the mid-1940's when they moved to Woody Point, Queensland.Death date13 June 1989
