Thomas Harvey was born in Northern Ireland and came to Queensland on the SS Oroya in 1906 as a 'home missioner' for the Presbyterian Church. Thomas married Elizabeth Fotheringham Tainish in Brisbane in May 1910. Elizabeth had arrived from Scotland a few days before the wedding. Thomas was inducted into the ministry at Laidley in 1913 where he remained until 1916 when he returned to the UK. Becoming associated with the YMCA he then entered into war work subsequently becoming a chaplain for the AIF in May 1919. Arriving in Australia in December 1919, his appointment with the Army was terminated in May 1920. Thomas enjoyed a successful career in the service of the Presbyterian Church in Queensland before eventually retiring to Scotland with wife Elizabeth.Birth date25 June 1883
