He attended Laceys Creek School from January 1898 to April 1898 and then went to Hell Hole School at Dayboro from May 1898 to March 1899. He was working as a labourer when he enlisted in Brisbane on 10 November 1915. He was killed in action 11 April 1917 aged 28 years.
