Thomas James was the son of Michael Heenan and Elizabeth McLoughlin. He was single, a horse breaker and living at Wamuran, Queensland when he first enlisted on 18 August 1914 which was also the very first day that enlistments opened at Enoggera. He was wounded on the Gallipoli Peninsula at 3.30pm on 25 April 1915 and was admitted to No. 2 General Hospital on 30 April 1915. He returned to Australia on the Hororata in July 1915 and was formally discharged in June 1916. Thomas re-enlisted, passing as medically fit even though he had 14 bullet wounds to his body. He embarked on the Kyarra in November 1916 and on arrival in Fremantle, Western Australia, was admitted to hospital with consumption. He married Annie May Wallace on 2 March 1917 and remained in Caboolture.Birth date24 July 1886Death date15 February 1950
